The ocean freight ship type was a series of multi-purpose freighters from VEB Warnowwerft Warnemünde . Between 1970 and 1980, 35 ships were built at the shipyard for shipping companies in France , China , Romania , Yugoslavia and Czechoslovakia .

  • The series began with hull number 370, which was handed over to its French owner, the shipping company Société Navale de l'Ouest , on August 29, 1970 as Saint Vincent with the home port of Dunkirk . After the ship was renamed the Aliakmon Runner in 1981 , it sank on February 8, 1983 as a result of a fire on board caused by an explosion at position 10.01N / 63.18E.
  • The Panciu, which was delivered to a Romanian shipping company on June 30, 1980 under construction number 300, marked the end of the series . It is still in motion after numerous sales and renaming, since 2003 as Ciuta .

technology

The ocean type was developed for use in temperate and tropical zones for the transport of general and heavy general cargo. Several variants differ in their main dimensions from the basic type. The ships have five holds and two continuous decks. 16,610 m 3 are available for bulk goods, 15,464 for general cargo and 585 m 3 for closed cargo . A refrigerated load space has a capacity of 784 m 3 . 600 tons of cargo can be transported on deck. Eight 5/10 t booms, three 20 t System Velle booms, a slewing 80 t heavy lift boom and a 5 / 3.2 t luffing crane make up the handling equipment. Cargo can be handled on pallets via three side ports with trolleys on the port side. Hydraulically operated folding and hinged lids close the hatches.

A two-stroke marine diesel engine built by VEB Dieselmotorenwerk Rostock with a MAN license , which can be remotely controlled from the navigation bridge, serves as the main propulsion system. At a cruising speed of 18.3 knots, the range of action was given as 11,500 nautical miles.
