Ozegahara

Ozegahara ( Japanese 尾 瀬 ヶ 原 , dt. "Plain of Oze"), also Oze ( 尾 瀬 ) for short , is a moor area in the Oze National Park in Japan and the largest mountain moor on Honshū . Administratively it is in the area of Gunma , Niigata , Fukushima prefectures .
In addition to the bog, there are also ponds in the area that are known for their clear water.
The area is about 8 km² and a popular hiking destination. It is known for several rare plant species, such as white mock calla (mizu-bashō) in spring, Hemerocallis dumortieri var. Esculenta (Nikkō-kisuge) and bog cotton -grass (watasuge). On June 1, 1960, Oze was named a special natural monument .
