Pál Rózsa

Pál Rózsa (born March 14, 1946 in Szombathely ) is a Hungarian composer.

life and work

Pál Rózsa graduated from Moscow University with a degree in chemical engineering in 1970 . He then held various positions in industry, foreign trade and in the National Planning Bureau. He then worked as an editor for the Editio Musica Budapest publishing house and has been a freelance composer since 1986. As a child he learned to play the violin and, as an adult, took private composition lessons from Sándor Szokolay and Zsolt Durkó , both professors at the Franz Liszt Music Academy in Budapest. Rózsa has been a member of the Hungarian Composers' Union since 1984 and of the Hungarian Music Society since 1990.

Rózsa's extensive compositional oeuvre covers almost all ensembles, from solo to large orchestra, opera and oratorio. Several of his works, often commissioned, have won national and international awards. Some compositions were recorded for the Hungaroton label .
