Pedagogical university representation

The educational university representatives are the legal representatives of the interests of the students at Austrian educational universities . In addition to the educational university representative, there is also a course representative for each degree program . In contrast to the student bodies at the universities , the educational university representatives do not have their own legal personality , but are assigned to the Austrian student body . The term of office lasts one year, the elections take place in the first two months of each academic year.

Normally, the educational university representation consists of all members of the degree program representation. However, if a teacher training college has fewer than 250 students, the teacher training college representative can decide on a direct election. In this case, the educational university representation consists of five members directly elected by all students.

Since 2005, the academy and meanwhile the educational university representatives at universities with at least 1000 students have sent mandataries directly to the ÖH federal representation . Pedagogical university representatives at smaller universities are part of the so-called electoral community. The chairmen of the pedagogical university representatives and the federal representative together form the chairperson conference of the pedagogical university representatives .

Degree program representative

A course representative must be elected for each established course , even if several courses have been merged. The degree program representation consists of three or five members (if there are more than 250 students). The election is based on the principle of choice of person . The degree program representatives elect the chairperson and a deputy from among their number. The degree program representation corresponds in composition and tasks to the study representation at the universities.

history

By a revision of the National Union of Students Act 1998 in 1999 was a member of the Students' Union to the students at teacher training colleges , at the Danube University Krems and the private universities expanded. In contrast to the university student representatives, no separate bodies were set up in the Pedagogical Academies due to the low number of students. The academy representatives consisted of the year spokespersons elected separately for each course .

In the course of the conversion of the Pedagogical Academies into Pedagogical Universities, the Student Union Act of 1998 was amended in 2007. The system of year spokespersons was abandoned, and since then there has been a degree program representation made up of three or five people.
