Pedagogical seminar
At the pedagogical specialist seminars (PFS for short) in Baden-Württemberg, specialist teachers for musical and technical subjects are trained in Karlsruhe , Kirchheim unter Teck and Schwäbisch Gmünd . The training lasts three years.
Admission requirements to the specialist seminars are secondary school leaving certificate , completed vocational training, at least one year of professional or company experience and passing an aptitude test. During the training, the candidate teachers are civil servants.
The specialist teacher training enables teaching at all schools, although use at grammar schools and vocational schools is only common in individual cases. Subject teachers teach predominantly at elementary, secondary, technical and secondary schools. The focus of the training is on the use in schools of the lower secondary level. The development of the professional ability and the teacher personality as well as the strengthening of personal responsibility are the focus of the training.
The specialist seminars are subordinate to the Ministry for Culture, Youth and Sport Baden-Württemberg .
