Lake Candia is a 1.5 km² lake , located in the Piedmontese municipality of Candia Canavese in the Canavese region of the metropolitan city of Turin , Italy . It is the last largely natural lake before the Po Valley or the mountains of the Western Alps .
Natural Park of Provincial Interest Lago di Candia
The lake and its surroundings have been protected as a nature park since 1995 . Hunting is prohibited. Angling and fishing is only permitted in a few ways and requires a permit. The Parco naturale di interesst provinciale Lago di Candia was the first such park to be established in a province of Italy; it covers an area of 336.17 hectares.
climate
In the Candia area, the average annual temperature is around 12 ° C, with temperatures being lowest in January and highest in July. Average annual rainfall is around 815 mm, with the minimum in January and the maximum in May. The average number of frost days during the year is 55 and the area is more likely to be humid year-round. The climate is temperate and without a real dry season. In winter there is little snow, low temperatures and many days of fog alternating with warm, dry summers with sudden showers. The weather conditions in spring, on the other hand, are very different, with alternations of rain and sunshine, similar to autumn, with a mild climate and many sunny days.
