Canavese

The Italian region of Canavese is a historical geographic region south of the city of Ivrea , near the entrance from Piedmont to the Aosta Valley . It includes the moraine hills around Lake Viverone . Further east, the Canavese merges into the Biellese around Biella .

The area is known for the wine of the same name with DOC status, which is produced here. The Sacro Monte di Belmonte is located in the area .
