Päite (German Peuthoff ) is a village ( Estonian küla ) in the rural community Toila ( Toila vald ). It is located in Ida-Viru County ( East Wierland ) in northeast Estonia .

Description and history

The village has 24 inhabitants (as of September 19, 2012).

It was first mentioned in a document in 1583, but was probably created before the Livonian War . The Päite estate is first documented in 1586.

Landscape protection area Päite

Part of the territory is designated as a landscape protection area ( Päite maastikukaitseala ).

The 41 meter high cliff of Päite ( Päite pank ) is popular with nature lovers . From there, the viewer has a wide view of the Gulf of Finland .
