The Pontifical University of Xaveriana ( Spanish Pontificia Universidad Javeriana , short: PUJ) is a Colombian university and one of the oldest in South America , which has existed without interruption since it was founded in 1623. Locations are Bogotá (headquarters) and Cali . 61 departments and 14 institutes with 181 study programs have been set up at 18 schools and faculties, with over 18,000 students enrolled in bachelor's degree programs and a good 4,000 students in postgraduate degree programs.

The private university named after Franz Xavier and run by the Society of Jesus was founded in 1604 in Santafé de Bogotá . In 1623 it was recognized by the archbishopric. In 1767 the Jesuit college had to be closed. In 1930 she was under Pope Pius XI. reopened.
