Péter Jakab (born August 16, 1980 in Miskolc , Hungary ) is a Hungarian politician. He is party and parliamentary group leader of the Jobbik party in the Hungarian parliament.

Career

Jakab is of Jewish origin . His great-grandfather was murdered in Auschwitz , his grandmother was baptized before the Second World War and raised 11 children in Mezőtúr .

He graduated from the University of Miskolc in 2004 and worked from 2009 to 2010 as a history teacher in a secondary and vocational school, where he taught Romani children.

In the 2018 parliamentary elections, he was elected Member of the Hungarian Parliament . Jakab is now chairman of the Jobbik party. He has also been chairman of his party's parliamentary group since June 2019.
