Péter Nagy (born March 17, 1992 in Budapest ) is a Hungarian tennis player .

Career

Péter Nagy played around 50 matches on the ITF Junior Tour until 2010 and reached 296th place in the junior ranking.

With the professionals, he played on the third-rate ITF Future Tour until the end of 2013 , until he was able to achieve a place in the top 1000 of the world rankings for the first time in 2014 , after moving into his first individual final and winning the first future title in doubles. In 2015 and 2016 there was one title each in singles and doubles, which means that he was able to finish the year in the top 500 for the only time so far with rank 423 in singles. In Sarasota , Nagy qualified for a tournament of the higher endowed ATP Challenger Tour for the first time . A year later in Banja Luka he won his first Challenger match. Otherwise appearances at Challengers remained exceptions, as his world ranking position was not sufficient for this and he did not make the jump to the next higher tournament category. In doubles at his home tournament in Budapest , he made it to the semi-finals for the only time so far. The Hungarian was able to achieve his career best in singles in May 2017 with place 409. In doubles he was ranked 283 thanks to five future titles in 2018 in December of that year. Due to the division of the world rankings into ATP and ITF, Nagy currently has no ATP placement in singles, in doubles he is listed at 500th place.

With the exception of 2017, Péter Nagy has played regularly for the Hungarian Davis Cup team since 2015 , for which he has a score of 4-5. In 2018 he was with the team in the world group, from which they relegated again in 2019.
