The Pönui nunatak is a 320 m high nunatak in the southeast of the Antarctic Ross Island . It rises 1 km southeast of Slattery Peak and 9 km southwest of The Knoll not far from the interface between Ross Island and Ross Ice Shelf .
The New Zealand Geographic Board named it in 2000 after a Māori term for "south wind".
