Pörtschacher peninsula

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

The Pörtschacher peninsula is a striking feature of Lake Wörthersee in Carinthia .

The peninsula , like the Capuchin Island in the south, is part of an underground rock threshold in the lake. This is the boundary of the smallest basin in the Wörthersee, which extends from Pörtschach am Wörthersee to Maria Wörth . The peninsula is connected to the shore in the north.

The peninsula is not particularly densely built up. The most striking building is the Parkhotel Pörtschach. The peninsula also has a lido and a large beach promenade . There are several bars and hotels on the promenade. There are also two landing stages for excursion boats. The flower island is right next to it . In the west, the lake is largely bordered by a sea wall. At the headland in the south of the peninsula there are many natural places where reeds also grow.
