Público is a Portuguese daily newspaper that appears in Lisbon , Porto , Coimbra and Braga with different local sections.

It was founded in 1989 as a joint project between a group of Portuguese journalists and the Sonae investor group. With a daily circulation of around 32,200 copies (2015), it is one of the most important newspapers in Portugal . Compared to Germany , with a population that is over eight times larger, the number of copies sold is considerable; there it would correspond to a number of 260,800.

Outstanding among the Portuguese daily newspapers is Público because of its sophisticated content as well as careful research and extensive international news. These include the travel supplement Fugas and the cultural supplement IPSILON .
