Pint

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Pünkelchen ( Dutch : Pinkeltje ), a character from the children's book series of the same name by the Dutch author Dick Laan , is a dwarf with a gray (in the original books: white) beard and a pointed cap . Although the tiny pin is about the size of the little finger on a child's hand - which is also due to the nl. pink (Eng. "little finger"), but is lost in the German translation - Pünkelchen does not belong to the Klabautern . Pünkelchen understands the language of animals, knows their food preferences and knows their worries and needs.

Pünkelchen has several friends:

  • the mice nibbles, gray skins, white eyes and long tails
  • the dachshund wiggle tail
  • the cat mustache
  • the cheeky crow Wippsteert
  • the spider silver thread
  • the fly Brummerchen
  • the wasp Steckelbein
  • the squirrel crack teeth
  • the frog Quix Quax Fridolin Grünpfot
  • the mole Paul Grabpfötchen
  • the firefly gold lamp
  • the bee Sabine Honigschnut
  • Susi, Papa and Mama Maus
  • the cloud man Cloud White

Between 1939 and 1977 a total of 29 different Dutch Pünkelchen books were published, the last four after the author's death; In Germany, 16 volumes with the stories and the Pünkelchen picture book were published by Herold-Verlag (Stuttgart) between 1955 and 1976. In the course of the (original) book series, Pünkelchen developed more and more: if the early Pünkelchen stories were mainly about (usually more banal) adventures in the Big House, the focus was now on difficulties in his home country Nowhere (in the original : Pinkeltjesland ). In the most recently published Pünkelchen books, the character transforms into a detective and solves several criminal cases.

Although Pünkelchen is usually always helpful and friendly to everyone, it never confides in people because it is always suspicious of them; A big exception is Dick Laan himself, whom Pünkelchen tells his adventures (which was also processed in the feature film; see below). When Pünkelchen found himself in Knecht Ruprecht's sack, it recognized that it could also count Nicholas among the trustworthy people.

The weekly Dutch women's newspaper Libelle published 211 short episodes in which Pünkelchen experiences many adventures with his friends. The accompanying drawings were provided by the Dutch illustrator Dagmar Stam. In addition to the dragonfly episodes, Pünkelchen read books were also published in which the character goes on a journey (and leaves the country nowhere). In these books, which were illustrated by Rein van Looy, the (child) reader also gets to know Pünkelchen's wife (in the original: Pinkelotje , also one of the two main roles in the feature film).

In 1978 an 88-minute film was released - only available in the Dutch original version (screenplay and director: Harrie Geelen; music: Joop Stokkermans) with Aart Staartjes as Pünkelchen, the Dutch actress and singer Wieteke van Dort as Pünkelchen's wife (orig .: Pinkelotje ) and other actors like Will van Selst (original role: " Prins Pinkelbert "), Emmy Lopes Dias (" Pee Lady Akeleitje "), Lex Goudsmit (" Pinkelbaron Krikhaer ") and - in the role of the author Dick Laan - Bob de Lange , the died a few months after the film was released. There is also a 55-minute Dutch radio play version by Philips (licensed by Almere Projects BV)
