Dick Laan
Dick Laan (born December 18, 1894 in Wormerveer ; † October 6, 1973 in Heemstede ) was a Dutch children's book author and film pioneer who is best known for his Pünkelchen books.
Life
Dick Laan, the son of a liquorice manufacturer, made his first film in 1917. In total there were over 50 feature films and documentaries.
But he became known as the author of the Pünkelchen books. In 1939 the first volume "Pünckelchen's Adventure" was published , in 1972 the last story was published. The Pünkelchen stories have been translated into many languages. In 1978 an episode directed by Harrie Geelen was filmed.
