Peter John Rhodes

Peter John Rhodes , known as PJ Rhodes (born August 10, 1940 ), is a British ancient historian who researches in particular the history of Classical Greece .

Rhodes studied at Oxford University , where he received his doctorate in 1968. From 1965 Rhodes taught at the University of Durham , first as a lecturer, from 1983 as a professor. In 2005 he retired.

Rhodes wrote numerous fundamental works on Greek history, such as the Boule or the Athenaion politeia of Aristotle .

He has been a member of the British Academy since 1987 .
