Robin Osborne

Robin Grimsey Osborne (born March 11, 1957 ) is an English ancient historian who specializes in classical Greece .

He is the author of several standard works on Greek antiquity , such as Greece in the Making 1200–479 BC and Archaic and Classical Greek Art . Osborne is a Fellow of King's College and Professor of Ancient History at Cambridge University . With his college and faculty colleague Simon Goldhill , he has published three anthologies on interdisciplinary topics from the ancient world. He is also the co-editor of a number of renowned journals, including the Journal of Hellenic Studies and the American Journal of Archeology .

For 2019, Osborne was awarded the Runciman Award .
