PCGG

PCGG is considered to be the world's first commercial radio station . After the first test runs, which were received for the first time on February 14, 1919, it was put into operation on November 6, 1919 by Hanso Schotanus à Steringa Idzerda for scheduled broadcasting. He was based in The Hague . Since the radio station was well received in England , the Daily Mail hired it for its own programs in 1922-24. There were several weekly radio broadcasts from 1919 to 1924. The callsign PCGG stood as an abbreviation for Pracht Concerten Gratis Geven ( Pracht Concerts, given for free ).
