PSV Eutin

The PSV Eutin (Police Sports Club Eutin from 1956) is a sports club based in East Holstein district town Eutin . In both indoor and field handball for men, PSV played several times in the top divisions at the time in the 1950s and 1960s. With around 1,600 members, it is the largest sports club in Eutin.

Handball

In field handball, the first promotion to the upper league Schleswig-Holstein was achieved in 1958, but as seventh place one could not qualify for the newly introduced Oberliga Nord, which from 1959 was the highest division for teams from Schleswig-Holstein, Hamburg, Bremen and Lower Saxony depicted. As champion of the - meanwhile renamed the state league and now second class - Schleswig-Holstein's highest league, however, succeeded a year later in the sovereign promotion to the new division. There the PSV was able to stay in the north season (Hamburg / Schleswig-Holstein) for five years and achieved the best placement in the club's history with a third place in the 1961 season. After relegation in 1965, however, the Eutinians were no longer able to reach a league above the national level. In indoor handball, PSV also made it to the top league several times in the early 1960s. In 1960/61, 1962/63 and from 1964 to 1967 the club belonged to the (up to 1966 first-class) league, here too, in 1961, it achieved the best placement with a third place. After the missed qualification for the newly introduced Bundesliga , the Eutinians rose from the league in 1967 and were able to participate in the (now third-tier) division for the last time from 1969 to 1973. With goalkeeper Rudolf Delfs , PSV also provided a national player during this time, who was used in the 1963 World Field Handball Championship and the 1964 Indoor Handball World Championship .

Other departments

The volleyball men played several times in the regional league, including in the 2001/02, 2002/03 and 2012/13 seasons. In 2013, the Eutinians reached third place and could have participated in the qualifying games for the 3rd division; however, the team disbanded the following season. The triathletes started at times in the 2nd Bundesliga North. In 1966, Hans Karmann won the Schleswig-Holstein light heavyweight championship in boxing in front of 2500 spectators in Neumünster.
