Pablo Casado
Pablo Casado Blanco ( ˈpaβlo kaˈsaðo ˈβlaŋko ; born February 1, 1981 in Palencia ) is a Spanish politician ( PP ). He has been chairman of the Partido Popular since July 21, 2018 . From 2015 to 2018 he was the party's deputy general secretary.
Political career
Casado joined the People's Party (PP) in 2003 when he was still a student.
At the 19th extraordinary party congress of the Partido Popular, Casado ran against the former deputy prime minister Soraya Sáenz de Santamaría for the office of party chairman after the former prime minister Mariano Rajoy had lost the vote of no confidence in parliament and announced his resignation as chairman. In the subsequent vote, Casado won the election with 1,701 (57.2%) versus 1,250 (42%) votes.
