Pablo Miró

Pablo Behrend-Miró (born in Córdoba in 1961 as Pablo Behrend) is a German-Argentinian musician, guitarist and songwriter who presents his songs, mostly written in Spanish and often politically or humanitarian motivated, in South America and Europe as Pablo Miró on concert tours.

Life and music

For the first 15 years, Pablo Behrend-Miró grew up in a family of German descent in Córdoba. In 1937, the Jewish grandparents had just managed to escape to Argentina. In 1976, after the putsch by the military junta, his parents fled with him via Paris to Germany, where he graduated from high school in Herford, East Westphalia, in 1981 . Since 1980 he gained experience on the stage, first with the band "Canto Libre". 1981–1984 he studied guitar at the Scuola di Musica di Fiesole in Florence . In 1984, after the overthrow of the military dictatorship, he went back to his Argentinian hometown of Córdoba, where he began studying composition in 1985. He has been touring concerts in Latin America and Germany since the mid-1980s. As an innovative interpreter and composer of the Argentine Nueva canción , he creates his work, the starting point of which can be found in the tradition of Atahualpa Yupanqui , Astor Piazolla , Mercedes Sosa , Victor Jara , la Nueva Trova Cubana , Violeta Parra , Chico Buarque and Milton Nascimento . At various festivals, numerous tours in South America and Europe, he made a name for himself through his virtuoso handling of guitar and charango , as well as his multi-faceted voice with performances influenced by jazz.

In 2010 he returned to Germany. His main residence is Berlin. From 2018 he will interpret the Spanish-German version of Violata Parras Gracias a la Vida with Konstantin Wecker on the major stages in Germany, such as the Berlin Philharmonie , Cologne Philharmonie , Alte Oper Frankfurt . Miró plays and sings as a guest on Konstantin Wecker's CD Poetry and Resistance .

In 2018 he released the album Courage on the Sturm und Klang label , on which Konstantin Wecker can be heard as a guest.
