Pablo Ramos

Pablo Ramos (born June 1, 1966 in Avellaneda , Buenos Aires Province ) is an Argentine writer and musician.

Life

Growing up in the greater Buenos Aires area , Pablo Ramos dropped out of school prematurely. He did various odd jobs and for several years attended the literary workshop of the Argentine writer Liliana Heker , which encouraged his talent. In 1997 his first volume of poetry, Lo pasado pisado, was published . In 2004 he published his first novel El orígen de la tristeza , which was translated into French and Portuguese and was also published in German in 2007 under the title The Origin of Sadness . The focus of the novel is the young Gabriel, who grew up in the 1980s in the midst of the economic decline of a country that was still shaped by the Argentine military dictatorship , and whose fate Ramos took up again as an adult in La ley de la ferocidad . Pablo Ramos is considered to be one of the most famous representatives of the young literary scene in Argentina. For his collection of short stories Cuando lo peor haya pasado , he was awarded two of the most important literary prizes in Argentina and Cuba.

In 2010 Pablo Ramos received a scholarship from the DAAD's artist program in Berlin, where he worked on the third part of his trilogy of novels. The writer and musician runs his own small publishing house under the name El Subsuelo and now passes on his knowledge in a writing workshop.
