Canoeists

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

A canoeist (also: canoe driver or paddler ) is the user of a canoe . The term canoeist is often used for members of the German Canoe Association or for other athletes who practice canoeing .

term

In contrast to other languages, German does not differentiate between the users of a kayak and a Canadian . In the English- speaking world, for example, the word kayaker is used and in French the word kayakiste is used for the paddler of a kayak. The term canoeist is also often used in competitions .

education

In Germany you don't need a sports boat license to drive a canoe . Since a license to canoe is not required, anyone interested can acquire the knowledge either self-taught or through training programs offered by many local or national associations or commercial schools . Canoe associations of some countries offer certifications, for example the British Canoe Union a certification up to "five star" depending on the canoeing sport. In seven European countries there are standardized certifications in the form of the voluntary, five-level European paddle pass .

Competitions

In canoeing competitions you need a valid competition ID for the respective discipline . Only with this is it possible to register and start competitions. With his signature, the owner affirms that he accepts the competition rules (and especially the anti-doping regulations ).
