Ben Kanute (born December 14, 1992 in Harvey , Illinois ) is an American triathlete .

Career

As the eldest of three brothers, Ben Kanute started triathlon at the age of eight.

Triathlon world champion age group 2008

In June 2008 he was in Vancouver triathlon world champion in the age group 16-19 on the sprint distance.

In 2015 he became national champion in the short distance triathlon.

Olympic Games 2016

Ben Kanute started at the Olympic Games in Rio de Janeiro and he finished 29th in August.

Ironman 70.3 Vice World Champion 2017

In September 2017 he finished second in the middle distance at the Ironman 70.3 World Championships in Chattanooga. He has been part of the Bahrain Elite Endurance Triathlon Team since 2018 .

In April 2019, the then 26-year-old won a race in the middle distance for the second time with the Ironman 70.3 California . In September he was the second best American in Nice and finished tenth at the Ironman 70.3 World Championships .
