Paddy Burke

Patrick "Paddy" Burke ( Irish Pádraig de Búrca , * 15. January 1955 ) is an Irish politician ( Fine Gael ) and belongs since 1993 to the Seanad Éireann , the upper house of the Irish Parliament , whose presidency as Cathaoirleach he Since May 25 2011 holds.

Burke attended Ballinafad College in Castlebar , Rockwell College of Agriculture , and Franciscan Brothers Agricultural College in Mount Bellew , County Galway .

In 1993 he was first elected for the Fine Gael in the Seanad Éireann. In the subsequent elections, he was always able to defend his mandate . During the 22nd and 23rd Seanad Éireann he served as Deputy Senate President ( Leas Cathaoirleach ).

Before his election to the Seanad Éireann, he had been a member of Mayo County Council since 1979 . With the abolition of dual mandates, however, he left this.

Burke is married.
