Paddy McAloon

Patrick Joseph "Paddy" McAloon (born June 7, 1957 in Durham , County Durham , England ) is a British singer and songwriter. He is the singer and songwriter for the British band Prefab Sprout .

Life

Because of an eye condition, McAloon had to undergo a complicated operation in 2002 that resulted in weeks of blindness. During this time he listened to the radio intensively , especially talk radio , and recorded radio broadcasts and frequency sounds. The material obtained in this way he processed into his first solo album I Trawl The Megahertz , which was released in 2003.

In 2013 he released the solo album Crimson Red under the band name .

McAloon lives in County Durham with his wife and three daughters. He suffers from retinal detachment and Menière's disease .
