The Paidi Furniture GmbH , headquartered in the Lower Franconian Hafenlohr produces furniture and accessories for babies, children and adolescents. She launched the first mass- produced cot for babies in Germany . Paidi is a company of Welle Holding from Paderborn.

history

After various tenants of the monastery courtyard in the Franconian Hafenlohr, it was acquired in 1917 by Hermann Buyten from Düsseldorf, who founded the wood goods factory "Hofgut" GmbH Hafenlohr, the forerunner of the company renamed Paidiwerk in 1935. The Paidi bed was developed by the company's founder, who applied for a patent around 1920 and named the bed “Paidi”. The Paidi bed developed into the company's flagship product and was the first mass-produced cot for babies.

The company had to file for bankruptcy in 1935 due to credit problems. The bankruptcy estate and in particular the patent for the Paidi bed were taken over by Heinrich Renkl in 1935, who subsequently renamed the company "Paidiwerk".

In 1953 the factory premises were enlarged. The company built a modern production plant on 60,000 m² on the outskirts of Hafenlohr. In the early 1990s, Paidi also acquired a furniture factory in Kolbuszowa, Poland.

In 1997 the company was realigned under new management. The product range has been expanded to include play, loft and bunk beds, student workstations, loungers as well as mattresses and slatted frames.

As of 2007, the Paidi brand has an aided brand awareness of around 30%, generates annual sales of over 60 million euros, is the market leader in Germany in the segment of play beds, loft beds and bunk beds as well as baby rooms and has a leading position in the field of student desks inside. Export countries are u. a. Austria, Switzerland, China, Hong Kong, Russia, South Korea, France, Benelux, Croatia, Slovenia and Poland.

Surname

The name Paidi is derived from ancient Greek παιδί "the child" ( dative form to παῖς "child"). The company has added this to “the happy child” and made it its philosophy .
