Paion (Paionien)

Paion ( Greek  Παιών , Latin Paeon ) is a figure in Greek mythology .

He is the son of Endymion , king of Elis . He has two brothers, Aitolus and Epeios , and a sister, Eurykyda .

Paion

Endymion had a race for the succession to the throne fought out among his sons in Olympia . Epeius conquered and inherited his father's kingdom. Paion was so unhappy about this that he emigrated and settled as far as possible from home on the other side of the Axios River . The landscape was named Paionien after him .
