Ed von Schleck

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Ed von Schleck is an ice cream brand that has existed since around 1980. In Germany, a similar ice cream was sold by Langnese under the name Dingi Star (strawberry and orange flavor) since 1969 . In Austria this ice cream was introduced under the name Paiper , the manufacturer Langnese operates there under the name Eskimo . The ice mass is in a plastic or paper hollow cylinder and is pushed up with the help of a movable handle. There used to be several flavors. Today it's a strawberry vanilla ice cream. The ice cream can be pulled back into the cylinder and covered for a break.

The idea for this ice cream was copied by the rival company Schöller with the product Pop Orange , which was on the market as a similar ice cream variant from 1979 to 2004. Pop Orange has been available again since 2018.

In Germany, Ed von Schleck is still on the market. Production in Austria was stopped for the first time in 1984, at the request of numerous customers, the ice cream was added to Eskimo 's range again in 2000 , but was then sold again in 2004. In June 2007, the strawberry-vanilla flavor appeared under the name Simpson . The background to the reintroduction was a retro wave in Austria, which had been triggered by the book Wickie, Slime & Paiper and which led to a signature campaign for Paiper .
