Paleotempestology

The paleotempestology is a science that deals with the reconstruction of past tropical cyclones is concerned, and as such a minor discipline of paleoclimatology is. The proxies used by paleotempestology include sedimentary deposits, microfossils (such as foraminifera ), stalactites, and corals .

Although the first paleotempestological investigations were already carried out in the 1970s , the research direction did not develop until after 2000.
