Otto Taeglichsbeck (born July 14, 1838 in Brandenburg an der Havel , † April 19, 1903 in Wiesbaden ) was mining captain and director of the Royal Upper Mining Office in Dortmund .

Life

Otto Taeglichsbeck graduated from high school in his hometown in 1855, then worked for two years as a mining enthusiast in the Silesian mining districts and then studied mining at the Friedrich Wilhelms University in Berlin from 1857 to 1860 . After stays in the mining districts of Westphalia , the Rhine Province , the Saar District and Silesia , Taeglichsbeck passed the mountain trainee exam on January 14, 1864 and passed the assessor exam on January 30, 1867 . His first job in the same year took him to the Wroclaw Higher Mining Authority as a mining assessor and unskilled worker . In 1869 he moved to the Bochum Association for Mining and Cast Steel Manufacture as mine director and in 1873 was appointed miner and mining district official in Witten . Three years later, he took over the management of the Heinitz mining inspection as mine director and director . In 1879 he was appointed Bergrat and in 1884 Oberbergrat and member of the Halle Oberbergamt . From 1891 Taeglichsbeck worked for a year as an unskilled worker in the Berlin Ministry of Trade and Industry, until in 1892 he was appointed mining captain and director of the Royal Upper Mining Office in Dortmund.

Political engagement

In 1881 he was elected to the Reichstag for the National Liberal Party and campaigned for more work safety in mining and for an improvement in the living conditions of miners.

Otto Taeglichsbeck is buried in the Ostenfriedhof in Dortmund. His tomb with a mourning squire in festive costume was designed by Clemens Buscher .
