Oberbergamt Halle
The Oberbergamt Halle was a Prussian authority for the administration of mines, smelters and salt works. It was dissolved in 1946. The subsequent mining office in Halle became part of the State Office for Geology and Mining of the State of Saxony-Anhalt in 2001 .
history
In 1777 King Friedrich II commissioned Friedrich Anton von Heynitz to manage the entire Prussian mining administration. The minister of the mining and smelting department arranged for the mining of Prussia to be divided into four main mining districts, following the British model:
- the Kurmark , Neumark , East and West Prussia ,
- Magdeburg , Halberstadt , Hohenstein and the county of Mansfeld ,
- Silesia and the County of Glatz ,
- the Westphalian provinces .
On December 7th, 1777 the Magdeburg-Halberstädtische Oberbergamt was formed in Rothenburg an der Saale , which was responsible for Magdeburg, Halberstadt, Hohenstein and the county of Mansfeld.
These four main mining districts were converted in 1815/1816 into the districts of the Berlin Oberbergamt, Halle Oberbergamt, Breslau Oberbergamt and Dortmund Oberbergamt . Later, the Bonn Oberbergamt was also created for the Rhine Province .
In 1946 the Oberbergamt was dissolved. The subordinate mining offices were renamed Technical Mining Inspections and placed directly under the Central Mining Inspection .
Service building
A new service building for the Oberbergamt Halle was built in 1882–1884 according to plans by the architect and Prussian construction officer Albert Kiss on the property at Friedrichstrasse 13 (today August-Bebel-Strasse 13). The historic clinker brick building is a representative castle-like three-wing complex based on the models of the Italian Renaissance and is a listed building .
