Palacio Municipal de Orizaba is the name given to the town hall of Orizaba .

history

The building on Avenida Colón Poniente , in which the town hall is now located, was built in the French Renaissance style of neoclassicism , was designed according to plans by the architect Carlos Herrera y Terán and opened as a school in 1905.

In the course of the Mexican Revolution , it was used by the Ministry of Education as an industrial and commercial college until 1920 and then served to educate workers. It was from this time that it was called Centro Educativo Obrero .

In 1926, José Clemente Orozco designed the mural that can be seen in the building and that thematizes the Mexican Revolution.

At the turn of 1990/91, Orizaba's town hall was relocated from its previous location, the Palacio de Hierro . The opening ceremony will take place on January 7, 1991 in the presence of the Mexican President Carlos Salinas de Gortari . Since then, it has been the largest town hall in the Mexican state of Veracruz, and not even the state governor has such luxury.

However, the building is now in a poor condition, mainly caused by moisture damage that was neglected for a long time.
