Palacio Pietracaprina

The Palacio Pietracaprina is a building in the Uruguayan capital, Montevideo .

The building, erected in 1913, is located in the Barrio Parque Battle - Villa Dolores on the border with Pocitos on Bulevar Artigas 1410 , the Avenida Gral. Rivera and Calle 20 de Setiembre . The architect Camilo Gardelle (Camille Gardelle) was responsible for the construction . The Palacio Pietracaprina, designed as a detached villa on a large corner plot of land with an elevated piano nobile accessible from the Bulevar Artigas via the main external staircase, is a typical example of this type of property, as it was built in the area around Bulevar Artigas at the beginning of the 20th century were. Stylistically, it is attributed to the historical eclecticism of French architecture. Originally designed as a residential building, Palacio Pietracaprina was acquired by the Brazilian state in 1941 during the reign of President Getúlio Vargas and the tenure of Brazilian ambassador João Baptista Luzardo . Today it is the seat of the Brazilian diplomatic mission in Uruguay. During the Día del Patrimonio , the building was opened to the public several times.

The Palacio Pietracaprina has been classified as a Bien de Interés Municipal since 1995 .
