Palacio Santos
The Palacio Santos is a building in the Uruguayan capital, Montevideo .
The building, which was completed in 1886 based on a project dating from 1881, is located in the Barrio Centro on Avenida 18 de Julio 1205, corner of Cuareim . Engineer Juan Alberto Capurro was responsible for the construction project and its management . A. Bataglia was responsible for the construction . An extension made later goes back to R. Bori . The building, which was originally conceived as a residential building for its first owner, Uruguayan President Máximo Santos , has Italian influences from historical eclecticism in its architecture . It now houses office space and serves as the seat of the Uruguayan Foreign Ministry .
Since 1975 the Palacio Santos has been classified as a Monumento Histórico Nacional .
