The Palais Hohenlohe-Bartenstein is a späthistoristischer palace in the 4th Vienna district Wieden , Schönburgstraße 8-10.

history

Leopoldine (known as Rosa) Hohenlohe-Bartenstein had the late-historic palace built with Baroque style elements by the architect Victor Rumpelmayer in 1880 . Owned by the Kingdom of Belgium since 1922 and used as the residence of the Belgian ambassadors . The Kingdom of Belgium commissioned architect DI Harald Mallner to create an architectural concept to use the palace not only as a residence, but also as an embassy building. The top floor was expanded to two storeys without changing the look of the house on the street side. In the course of the expansion, the state rooms were also completely renovated. Since spring 2017, the Hohenlohe-Bartenstein Palace has also been the seat of the Belgian Embassy in Vienna.

description

The two-storey palace with a banded facade is laterally divided by two flat risalits with hip roofs. A balcony with a wrought iron grille encompasses the two central window axes. The windows have a bent triangular gable roofing except for the curved roofing of the risalit windows. The floors are separated by a cordon cornice . Two side arched portals with wooden doors and a smooth base zone with a basement window complete the building.
