The Károlyi Palace ( Hungarian Károlyi-palota ) at Károlyi utca (Károlyi Street) 16 is in the V district of Budapest . Today it houses the Petőfi Literature Museum .

history

The palace was the city residence of the Károlyi magnate family during the Baroque and Biedermeier periods. After the Second World War, the owner, Count Mihály Károlyi, opened the palace to the public. It has been used for cultural purposes ever since.

architecture

The palace has a horseshoe-shaped floor plan. It's three stories high. There is a garden at the back through the main gate on the street.
