The Palais Rivera in Erding , Upper Bavaria , was built in 1712. The former baroque house at Münchener Strasse 20 is a protected architectural monument .

history

The court architect Giovanni Antonio Viscardi (1645–1713) built the two-storey house with a high gable and niche figures. The listed building is considered one of the most important profane baroque buildings in Bavaria. The builder was the widowed Adelheid von Rivera. The Countess was among other basic mistress of Ottenhofen , Oberneuching and Kirchötting . The house was built as her retirement home. She used the building as a representative city palace to receive her guests. The location was opposite the former Capuchin monastery, of which the countess was one of the patrons. The monastery no longer exists today, it was founded in 1692 and dissolved in 1802 in the course of secularization . The district court was established at its location in 1901.

In 1938 the palace was partially destroyed by fire and then rebuilt. Conversions were also made to the Rivera Palais, which changed the appearance and character of the building. It has been back to its original shape since the 1970s.

In mid-2015 the city of Erding bought the Palais Rivera. The building is rented to a tax office and a logistics company.
