Palakollu is a city in the Indian state of Andhra Pradesh .

The city is part of the West Godavari district . Palakollu has the status of a municipality . The city is divided into 59 wards (constituencies). It is a pilgrimage center as it is where the Ksheerarama Temple is located, one of the five most important Hindu temples in Andhra Pradesh.

The city is known for having produced many directors and actors in the Telugu film.

Demographics

According to the 2011 census, the population of the city is 61,284 and that of the metropolitan area is 81,199.

Infrastructure

The city is connected to the national rail network via its own train station.

economy

Farms as well as food processing and rice mills are the main sources of income for the city. Coconuts from the region are shipped from here to all of India. The city serves as a distribution and trading center for its hinterland. The city is the regional university center and is known for specialized health services.
