Palazzetto Dandolo is a palace in Venice in the Veneto region of Italy . It is located in the Castello sestiere with a view of the Rio dei Mendicanti , then the Campo dei Santi Giovanni e Paolo . The building is depicted in the painting Il rio dei Mendicanti con la scuola di San Marco by Canaletto .

history

The 17th century building belonged to the Dandolo family . In 2006 a tender was announced for the restoration of some parts of the building, which is still in private use as a residential building.

description

The structure and decoration of the palace is clearly in the style of the 17th century. It has two facades: the one facing the Campo dei Santi Giovanni e Paolo appears simple and has only a few individual windows, while the one facing the Fondamenta Dandolo and the canal offers a more imposing sight. It extends over five floors, of which the two main floors particularly stand out. The two Venetian windows arranged one above the other and the chimneys similar to those at Palazzo Dario are particularly worth mentioning.
