Palazzo Molin Querini
Palazzo Molin Querini , also Palazzo Molin , Palazzo Molin Gaspari or Palazzo Molin alla Maddalena , is a palace in Venice in the Italian region of Veneto . It is located in the Cannaregio sestiere , facing the Grand Canal, next to the Palazzo Emo alla Maddalena , opposite the San Stae church .
history
The last renovation dates from the 18th century. The palace belonged to the Molin del Traghetto della Maddalena family . The Bishop of Brescia and Cardinal Giovanni Molin (1705–1773) lived in this palace .
description
It is a very characteristic and lively building, subordinate to this difficult geographical context in the bend of the Grand Canal at this point.
The facade is divided into two parts:
- on the left is the portal to the water, the confluence of the '' Calle del Traghetto with the Grand Canal and a Venetian window with a balcony, flanked by three individual windows on the level of the main floor.
- on the right there are only two single windows facing the Rio della Maddalena .
In addition to the ground floor and the main floor, there is a second floor, a mezzanine floor between the ground floor and the main floor and a mezzanine floor under the roof. The palace also has a very small courtyard.
