Governor's Palace or City Hall in Asmara

The Palazzo del Governatore ( Italian for Governor's Palace ) is the former seat of government of the Italian Governor of Italian Eritrea , built as an " Art Deco building" and is now used as the town hall of the Eritrean capital Asmara .

The Palazzo del Governatore is located in the city center.

The former Italian governor's palace was built in 1897 by Fernando Martini , the first governor of Eritrea (today it is the presidential office). The Gibi, as it is called, was converted into the Museum of Asmara during the imperial rule over the now Ethiopian province of Eritrea , when the governor's palace was converted to the current building.

The current town hall was built in the 1930s in the typical fascist style , with a central tower that was decorated with " Fasci " at the entrance .
