The Palestine Exploration Quarterly (PEQ) is one of the oldest journals for research into the Levant and its inhabitants.

The Palestine Exploration Fund , founded in 1865 , has issued the Palestine Exploration Fund Quarterly Statement (PEFQSt) since 1869 . The aim was to research the “ Holy Land ”, which primarily meant illuminating the biblical story (s) and their backgrounds. Since 1937 the magazine appears under the current title " Palestine Exploration Quarterly ". David Jacobson is the editor-in-chief . Contrary to the title, the magazine appears only three times a year. Since its inception, the focus of the contributions has also widened to include all aspects of exploring the Levant.
