The Palestra Itália Futebol Clube was a football club from Curitiba , the capital of the Brazilian state of Paraná . The association was founded in 1921 by Italian immigrants. The term Palestra (from ancient Greek παλαίστρα palaistra , wrestling school ') describes a gymnasium in Italian. The club colors were the colors of the Italian flag: green, red and white.

In the first year, the club reached the runner-up in only the seventh playout of the Campeonato Paranaense , the state championship of Paraná . Between 1924 and 1932 Paléstra was able to win the title a total of three times. Another runner-up followed in 1952.

In 1971 the club merged with the seven-time national champion Britânia SC and the CA Ferroviário , eight-time title holder, to form the Colorado Esporte Clube, which was to win the 1980 championship. In December 1989 Colorado merged with the Esporte Clube Pinheiros to form today's Paraná Clube, which has since won numerous state titles, especially in the 1990s.

The home stadium of Palestra Itália was the Estádio Tarumã , which offered space for around 6,000 spectators.
