Palladium (shoe brand)
Palladium is a French shoe manufacturer and former tire manufacturer with headquarters in Pont-de-Chéruy in the region Auvergne Rhône-Alpes , France .
history
Founded in France in 1920, Palladium first made tires for the emerging aviation industry . The company achieved great success. After the Second World War, however, the demand dropped dramatically. Tire production was stopped and a shoe factory was opened in 1947.
The experience in tire production could be used for the processing of the shoes. Resistant boots and sturdy cloth shoes were created, which were also used in the French Foreign Legion during operations in the deserts of North Africa and the stony Atlas Mountains. This functionality has been retained in the design of the boots to this day and has only been changed in terms of fashion. In the 1990s there was a hype around the palladium boots when they were increasingly worn at rock festivals .
The company was later taken over by the South Korean retail group E. Land World Limited . Palladium boots are sold in Germany by the K-Swiss group, which also belongs to E-Land . The multifunctional shoes are highly recognizable thanks to the Palladium logo. Using new techniques, Palladium has further developed the materials and color nuances of the boots, so that different lines are available on the market today, from waterproof leather optics to extreme lightness with variants in different colors.
