Pallieter
Pallieter is the main character of the novel of the same name by the writer Felix Timmermans from 1916 . In his novel, the Flemish author tells the story of the “bon vivant” Pallieter. Although this was not in Timmermans' sense, the figure became a symbol for the Flemish people. Pallieter has been translated into more than 40 languages. Based on the script by Hugo Claus and directed by Roland Verhavert , a film version was made in 1976 , with Eddie Brugman as Pallieter, Sylvia de Leur and Jacqueline Rommerts . 1997 , the 50th year of death Timmermans', was in Lier the hometown of the author, one, Pallieter - Musical listed.
