Palojoensuu [ ˈpɑlɔjɔɛnsuː ] ( North Sami Bálojotnjälbmi ) is a village in the municipality of Enontekiö in Finnish Lapland . Palojoensuu is located in the southwest of the municipality at the mouth of the Palojoki River in the Finnish- Swedish border river Muonionjoki . The main road 93 to the community center of Hetta , 26 km to the east, branches off from the state road 21 following the course of the Muonionjoki .

In 1826 the church of Enontekiö was relocated from Markkina in the north to Palojoensuu, but as early as 1856 it was decided to build a new church in Hetta. The church of Palojoensuu was demolished and its beams were auctioned among the residents of the area. During the Lapland War 1944–1945, Palojoensuu was the scene of fighting between German and Finnish troops.
