Pamana ( Ndana , Dana , Dona ,) is an uninhabited Indonesian island in the Timor Archipelago ( Lesser Sunda Islands ).

Pamana is located off the southwest tip of the island of Roti . To the north lies the small island of Helihana . The 14 km² island is considered the southernmost point of Indonesia and therefore Asia. It belongs to the administrative district ( Kabupaten ) Rote Ndao in the province of East Nusa Tenggara .

The flat island is dry. The only water hole in the interior of the island is very salty at 7.5 ppt .

fauna and Flora

In addition to some deer, there are numerous species of birds on Pamana. Sea turtles also lay their eggs on the beach. The island has been declared a game reserve for the deer.

history

According to local lore, the entire population of Pamana was murdered in retaliation in the 17th century. The small lake on the island is said to have been colored red with blood.
