Life
Pamela Pabst has been blind since birth, with 1% residual vision in the left eye. She attended mainstream schools with a focus on integration. Also because she received additional educational support because of her visual impairment, she was rejected and tortured by parts of the student body. A visit to a criminal court in 1994 piqued her interest in law , initially feeling addressed by the formal and respectful manners in court, which contrasted with the behavior of her classmates.
While studying law at the Free University of Berlin took Pabst digital as a tool and cassette spoken legal texts, screen readers and read-aloud assistants . After her second state examination, Pamela Pabst settled in Berlin-Neukölln in 2007 as a self-employed criminal defense lawyer and victim lawyer. She is the first, from birth, blind defense lawyer in Germany. Professionally, she uses digital tools and personal assistance. She lives and works in Berlin .
In 2014 she published the biographical book I See What You Don't See. A blind defense attorney goes her way.
